This conference will explore the nature of democracy and its possible crisis in Ireland. Questions such as: What is the relationship between a democratic vote and the constitution? Are there constitutional limits in a democracy? What is the extent of the law in a democratic government? What constitutes a proper law? Who ought to be covered by the law? What is the basis for rights in a democracy? Recent proposals to change the constitution will also be addressed.
